Weather adds two simple and elegant ways to view the weather for specific locations: a global icon in the user bar and a widget for your community, making it easy for members to check current conditions at a glance.
Administrators can configure the default city, language, temperature unit (Celsius or Fahrenheit), and wind speed unit (km/h or mph) directly from the AdminCP, allowing the widget to match the preferences of your community.
Members can also personalize the experience by adding their own location directly in the widget. When they do, their chosen city will appear in a dedicated Weather tab on their profile, so other users can see the current weather in their area.
The widget displays the current temperature, weather conditions, and additional details such as feels-like temperature, humidity, and wind speed, presented in a clean layout that integrates naturally with the IPS interface.
To keep things efficient and avoid unnecessary API usage, the app uses a 1-hour cache for weather data, which helps ensure the free OpenWeather plan is more than enough for most communities.
