After updating the app, you need to go to the video, click on the Action menu, and choose the option to rebuild the screenshot (API). That's not automatic.

  • Could it be because they are unlisted videos?

  • The API accesses the video as a guest; if it’s unreachable, there’s not much that can be done. I believe there's an option to upload the image manually; in this case, that would be your best option.

  • Nope, the video is ok. The problem is the API trying to get the video frame to take the screenshot.

Even doing it that way doesn’t work anymore—I’ve had to manually upload the screenshots every time for a while now. The automatic rebuild via API just doesn’t seem to trigger properly.

Videos from RazCast are live videos. The app never took screenshots from live videos; I just added it and will release a new version. The other profile works fine for all videos I tried:

You can see it working here, mate. I wouldn't release something that isn't working!!!

All was done via rebuild screnshot menu entry.

No need to get upset, my friend! I never said you were lying or anything like that… I can see it works fine on your end, but on mine it just doesn’t anymore. It’s not a big deal—I’m not going to die over it. I’ll manage on my own, I wouldn’t want to bother you. Thanks anyway!

It’s cool, no worries. I used to have all the thumbnails, but after doing a full rebuild, it’s not just three thumbnails I’ll have to add manually—it’s all of them. The process wiped out every existing one, which isn’t great to be honest. 😔

Heads-up for anyone experiencing issues with video thumbnails not generating properly:

If you're running into problems where YouTube thumbnails aren't being created automatically—and worse, if a full rebuild wipes out existing ones—the culprit might be your PHP version.

I recently upgraded to PHP 8.3.x for another project on the same server, and that broke the thumbnail generation on my IPS setup. After some digging, I found that IPS officially recommends sticking with PHP 8.1.x for full compatibility. Downgrading back to PHP 8.1.x immediately resolved the issue.

Just a friendly tip: if this happens to you, try switching back to PHP 8.1.x before diving into deeper troubleshooting.

As for support—well, let’s just say I renewed my license the same evening, but didn’t get much help. No questions asked, no guidance offered. A shame, really. But as the saying goes: if you want something done right, do it yourself.

Hope this helps someone avoid the same headache!

Wrong. You renewed on Oct 15. You posted on Oct 20.

You're running a PHP version that’s not supported, and somehow this is my fault? You never mentioned you were using an unsupported version.

If that’s how you see it, feel free not to renew your license.

Hi Adriano,

Just a quick follow-up regarding the thumbnail issue. I wanted to clarify that the specific phrase you used didn’t sit very well with me—not because of the content itself, but more because I had been courteous from the start and was genuinely trying to understand what was going wrong.

As it turns out, the problem came from the PHP version. I had upgraded to PHP 8.3.x for another project on the same server, and didn’t realize it would affect the IPS setup. After some digging, I found that IPS recommends sticking with PHP 8.1.x, and once I downgraded, everything worked perfectly again.

So I couldn’t have mentioned it earlier—I didn’t know myself until I investigated further. But the good news is: the issue is resolved, and my license was renewed the same evening 😉

No hard feelings at all—and thank you again for your work and the scripts you provide. Wishing you a great day!

Hi

Just wondering RE:Api Key, does using a website referrer restriction work?
I have tried using our full domain https://{domain} but I get an error saying referrer blocked.

It may be API permission lag as google does say it can take time to apply but I thought I would ask.

Thanks
