@Adriano can this be used to show videos uploaded directly to the gallery?  We switched to using the Gallery for videos and my god does it suck.   Been looking for a feasible replacement but cannot find anything close.

Not sure if this is possible but a feature request.

1. Ability to add other services outside of Vimeo and Youtube. I know the MichaelJ videos app let you do this by customizing embed links which worked rather well or the ability to post videos from any URL.

2. Ability to upload videos directly to the site. I am using the cloud service and hosting videos on their platform actually is cheaper as I get to use Invisions CDN (Content Delivery Network) and do not have to worry about insane bandwidth cost when someone plays a video. So just being able to upload a video and store on site storage would be great

3. Tool to import videos directly from the default Invision Gallery.  Basically if we have a image gallery that is built for videos the tool can import those videos based on their associated URL and thumbnails (if added) into the videos app.

Thats about it. Nice app @Adriano glad to see you are still keeping us whole around here.

The Remove thumbnail option will display the default NO THUMBNAIL image:

 

The same image will be displayed across the application if a video thumbnail can't be retrieved for any reason.

No. This is YouTube/Vimeo embed videos as stated.

if it isn’t showing an option in the ACP tools, then it isn’t a feature currently. I really don’t remember as I don’t use all my stuff daily.

Thanks for the response.  I do hope you consider adding it in the future.  This would be a must have replacement to Invision's Gallery which seems to be an afterthought when it comes to videos. I would gladly pay premium for this app just for that one feature.

@HDiddy you're really asking an app to be what it was not made to be.

It sounds like you need to open a Request for a new Gallery app (which I would also support as the OE app sucks).

Apps start as a lot of things and evolve into other things based on feedback and demand.  Tell me an app that today is still doing just what its original intended purposes were?

I am suggesting the app be developed further, so it can be used not just Youtube or Vimeo videos but for videos uploaded to directly to the community or other sources. Last I checked it was ok to suggest new features on apps we are interested in.

Also you are not the developer. Yes I could put in a request for a new something I have done for other apps with @Adriano, but I am also very cautious of peoples time.  Is it easier for him to simply add a feature to an existing app (Which I would gladly pay for) or create a brand new app that has very similar functionality.

@Adriano let me know, if you think you can handle making a separate video gallery, I can put in a request detailing the requirements and you can send me a quote.

Sorry, I have no plans to allow uploads in this app. It can use any site that can be embedded by the core, but currently, it is "hardcoded" to YouTube and Vimeo because there are a few things that need to be done to make it accept other videos (like screenshots and custom validation); so if you're aware of any other site that can be embedded by the core, let me know. I'll try to implement it in the app.

Can we get the same permissions setup as in how the link directory works?

On Video Directory when they try to view (if permissions are off) it just shows its empty, and it looks baron and guests may not be interested in signing up if it looks empty.

On the link directory app when guests try to view it says:

Sorry!

You do not have permission to access the Links Directoy.

VD shows empty when guests cannot view the category. If you want to disallow access to the app itself, go to the ACP -> System -> Applications -> click in this app row -> click in the padlock in the module that will show up -> remove selection from guests.

That worked amazing to block the system - but now its removed from my userbar - I would like guests to SEE that we have this feature, but not be able to see the videos or categories unless they're signed in

Do you know are Robots counted as guests? If guests can't view - does that mean Google can't and won't be able to index?

I currently have 3,459 videos, 690,362 views, and comments. I especially don't want to lose this information. Is it possible to import them into your extension?

Yes, it has a converter:

 

All you have to do is create the same category structure and use the tool to import the videos into the proper categories.

Thanks. I have it there, but it has broken the new version of Invision, so it is disabled and locked. I was hoping to get things migrated in the is a state if at all possible.
