Thanks. I have it there, but it has broken the new version of Invision, so it is disabled and locked. I was hoping to get things migrated in the is a state if at all possible.

Send a message with an ACP and FTP credentials. I can make the changes in the Videos files and unlock the app then you can use the converter.

Well, sorry then. The converter requires the Videos app to be running because it loads the data. Example:

			foreach( $select as $row )
			{
				$oldVideo = \IPS\videos\Video::load( $row['tid'] );

				try
				{
					$author = $oldVideo->author();

I don't think \IPS\videos\Video::load() will work with the app disabled.

For those who are interested in purchasing this app: the converter requires the old app to be running (unlocked and enabled), otherwise, you'll get an error on the converter screen due to the error on the old Videos app:

Capturadetela2024-02-22085010.thumb.png.5925665bd051d13cf9774edf0b7900aa.png

That's because there is a category field from the old app in the converter form.

So if you're willing to purchase it, go ahead. You can create a topic in the CLIENTS forum (this is a private forum; only you and I can see the topic) and provide an ACP account. I'll unlock the old app so you can safely use the converter.

Thank you.

A new version will be available in a few days. One of the changes will be related to the number of extra videos. It is now limited to 60. You can set how many you want per category, this doesn't change.

Bear in mind that using so many extra videos won't produce a nice layout:

New timeframe (Today) for the Top Video Contributors widget:

 possible bug report

when the index page is set to block index

block #5 shows the random routine loop not the views routine loop

so it needs replacing with views loop

Great app, a few things so far

not sure if this is working as intended

but the default site search link is always to the comments tab

which can be a bit unwieldy when you are searching for an actual  video  as it then  takes you to the comments tab not the video itself

---------------------------------------------------------------

after importing videos from the old video app

I found that dailymotion video urls play fine (but you can not edit/add as not supported)

Suggestion that as almost working fully, it could be an easy improvement to add dailymotion videos as an option?

----------------------------------------------------------------

If admins had the option to leave the video url blank when submitting a video, and upload an thumbnail, we could then use the description to embed and thus use non-standard videos via iframe etc

If there is a way to get the image from the video, yes.

I'll take a look.

Nope, that won't happen because would require a HUGE change in the whole stuff. No way!

I will release a new version in a few days. I'll make sure to review these above.

I don't mean any major changes to the coding/display etc

Just though that allowing a 'blank' url would just mean that if people wish they can then  use the description field and invision methods to display the video, though i guess I could use a faux url

No probs if not feasible

I do use the 'embed in description' method already for 2-part youtube videos instead of using the extra video feature

A lot of things behind the scenes (script and templates) would have to change to accommodate that.

I can't reproduce this. If the link in the Activity Stream/search result is about a new video submitted, you'll go to the main tab. I mean, if the search found something related on the tile or in the description.

If the link is about something found in a comment, you go to the Comments tab to read the new comment. Same for reviews.

It is like that in any app. The forums app is like that. If it is a new topic, you go to the first post; if it's a reply, you'll redirected to the reply.

What's New in Version 1.1.0

New Features:

  • Add the ability to upload videos (category setting)
  • Add support to Dailymotion
  • Add an internal search
  • New timeframe (Today) for the Top Video Contributors widget

Enhancements:

  • Upon request, increased the number of extra videos from 5 to 60 (bear in mind that it will add one tab for each video)

Fix:

  • Add a couple of missing language bits

@Adriano thanks for the new version.  Only thing that seems not to be working is When you edit a video and rebuild thumbnails, the manual upload does not stick.  I've been telling my users to ensure the first frame of their videos is a thumbnail but some folks can be difficult.

If you’re talking about uploaded videos, they don’t have the rebuild option (in the video view) neither is part of the tool, as described in the tool header (only videos from YouTube, Vimeo, or Dailymotion are rebuilt). Uploaded videos do not have a thumbnail, as I told you yesterday. They use the first frame of the video, as already happens in any part of the suite.

Thanks I think I may have misunderstood. The issue is most videos people make start with a fade, so it makes all the the video thumbnails black.  IPS core gives folks the option of uploading their own thumbnails so I assumed this would be the case here

No, it isn't a global thing; it isn't in Core. It's only in the Gallery and pretty hidden; you have to click on the video to show the option on the right side:

Capturadetela2024-03-08204946.thumb.png.2443cedca740f8e533f0e5fad68f96c4.png

The vast majority of users don't even know that. As I told you yesterday, I think it bizarre the user has to open the video, take a screenshot, or go to another site to save an image, and then upload it. Double work.

I'll take a look when I have to update the app again.

Thanks @Adriano I do appreciate you taking a look.  I do wish IPS core did a better job of providing decent tools for video management, but it is very basic and very much annoying.  This Videos app is what IPS core should have had from day 1 IMO, but I digress...LOL

ok thius i sbefore th emost recent update...

the template for block 5 (the 'views' block} has the below code

{{if \count( $random )}}
                <div class='sosVideoIndexBlock ipsCarousel ipsClearfix' data-ipsCarousel data-ipsCarousel-showDots>
                    <div class='ipsCarousel_inner'>
                        <ul class='sosVideoBlock' data-role="carouselItems">
                            {{foreach $random as $idx => $video}}
                                {{if $video->canView( \IPS\Member::loggedIn() )}}
                                    {template="carousel" group="index" params="$video"}
                                {{endif}}
                            {{endforeach}}

this is the same routine as per  block 3 ( the 'random ' block)

as such block 5 shows  random videos  rather than videos sorted by views
