Member's Country

This application will display the country flag of users in several places of the entire suite, including third-party resources. It uses Geolocation to grab the country when a new user registers an account or when existing users log in on your board. Clicking on the flag will give you a list of all users from that country.

Important Notice:

• IPS Geolocation is an active license perk so you need to have an active license to countries get picked by IP Address.

Usage:

• New members: new members will have their country detected when they register the account

• Existing members: Country will be recognized when a member is online or if allowed by the admin, go to Account Settings and pick your country.

Settings:

• Display country flag everywhere: This option displays the country flag beside the user photo in several places on official apps like Forums, Gallery, Blogs, Pages, and Downloads, including its widgets and third-party resources. If disabled, it displays the country name + flag only on the user profile.

• Groups allowed to change the country: users from selected groups can change their country on Account Settings. Sometimes Geolocation picks the wrong country, so the user will be able to fix it.

• The main page of this application uses flags from https://flagsapi.com/

This is working great as long as I use round avatars.

My members would prefer square.

This is what happens with square - default IPS theme.

How is the list populated? One member noticed his country of Scotland is not listed.

It uses IPS Geolocation. Scotland is part of the UK.

What's New in Version 2.0.1:

• Fix an error in the popup pagination that lists the members from a specific country

• Exclude members with incomplete registrations or bans from appearing in the listing.

• Create a dedicated page to list all countries and their members

  • Add a new setting to enable the page/display a link in the navigation bar

  • Add a new setting to display only countries that have members.

That number isn't based in the members table. It comes from the members_flags table. Records are there, I'm pretty sure.

Here you go:

The app was showing all members (banned and incomplete registration). Only incomplete registration you have 1,357 members. I’ll remove them from the lists.

Will take a look in the template error.

PS: don't remove the access yet. I will test the new version there.

It is something related to the core (IPS). Right now in this board:

Please confirm if the flags appear in your ACP, in case you have more than one language.

I only have English.

How do I confirm they show in the ACP, I am not sure where to look for that?

If you have only one language, it won't show anywhere. I will send you a message with my translation. Just install it and test it, then remove it.

I installed it, and yes, I see two boxes for the forum title like you displayed, but I still don't see the country flag with either language.

I guess I don't know what you need me to do to try and help.

This is the language selector so it is somethiing in the Core.

I would remove the mention to a 3rd-party resource and leave only the forum and language selector part. I know IPS.

Hi there, I'm getting the following error when trying to install: We could not parse the application.json file for this application because it is missing or corrupt. Please contact the author for an updated copy of this application.

Are you using IPS4 or IPS5?

Could this app be used in a more limited area say for cities or neighborhoods? As a way to show members within a local community instead of country. Obviously I would need to change some language attributes. Just wondering.
